Alex McNab , an African American Columbia University Student was hungry on Thursday of last week while returning late from his Afro-Beat Dance practice. He decided to search on Facebook to find a place on campus that offered free food, according to an article written in The Washington Post by Katie Mettler.
He found a place at Barnard Campus which is affiliated with Columbia. On the way there he had an encounter with Barnard Public Safety Campus Police. He entered Barnard Campus Library where he found other students who offered him food.
Then two officers who followed him in appeared, followed by two more officers, then another- five in total. They proceeded to demand to demand his ID, grabbed his arms and pinned him up against the counter. A nearby student, Caroline Cutlip videoed the incident which has since gone viral.
McNab claims this is the third time he has been the subject of racial profiling by Barnard Campus Police citing two previous incidences where he was stopped and asked for identification.
Barnard Campus has issued a statement stating they are investigating the matter. Furthermore, the officers involved have been put on administrative leave.
It has been some time since I wrote an article about the economic affairs of the nation. Life goes on and we get caught up in the daily challenges before us not bothering to pay any attention to important economic issues that truly will impact each and everyone one of us. A hurricane starts with a gentle breeze, then progresses when warm ocean air rises rapidly encountering cold air forming water vapor and eventually storm clouds. An economic hurricane forms when excessive debt, excessive money printing, devaluation of currencies, and trade wars collide with Fiscal and Monetary Policies of Central Banks and Governments. I call it the perfect storm of stupidity.
We are now entering a period of time like no other in history. Ongoing trade wars, excessive debt, excessive money printing , Central Banks rushing to lower interest rates, Countries devaluing their currencies and the biggest economy in the world, running huge fiscal deficits. This is a recipe for disaster. Trade wars lead to violent conflict and bankrupts nations. Excessive debt robs future generations and excessive money printing eventually destroys all paper currencies. To explain this dynamic we need to look closer at the macroeconomics of what is going on in the world.
The United States economy is the prettiest of the three ugly sisters. Europe is a mess with its flag ship nation Germany , once the economic engine of Europe, starting to sputter. China is faltering with trade sanctions and massive debt starting to bite into their command and control structure.
Germany was the darling of the E.U. Since it reunified in the early 90’s it has become an economic powerhouse and one could easily make the argument that it has benefited the most within the European Union. But it has a big problem on it’s hands. The largest German bank, Deutsche Bank is in big trouble. The reasons are many- bad loans and mismanagement- are the primary culprits. They tried merging with other financial institutions but could not find a partner to bring to the Merger Ball. Oh, there were suitors who gave her a good look but each one had no matching glass slipper. One was a non Euro nation so that did not fit. One was a French maid who demanded control. The Germans would not accept this match up. Finally, a German sister bank came a calling but she was just as ugly with financial problems. So, it appears Ms. Deutsche Bank is all alone with no one to aid her, at least for now. Huge layoffs have been announced . Remember this- as Deutsche Bank goes, so does Germany.
China’s economy is slowing after massive debt accumulation and years of large amounts of stimulus. The current trade dispute with the United States may be contributing, but China does business with many countries and the world trade slow down is no doubt impacting it’s economy. It is true that China enjoys a large trade surplus with the United States and one of the reasons for the current rift between the two nations. Trump wants fair trade and China wants access to the U.S. Market. This will sort itself out but not without mounting friction. Besides , it is Europe that actually has a much larger trade surplus with the United States. I would not be surprised to see President Trump take aim at Europe in this regard. As I said, once trade wars start , they can quickly spread and escalate to more violent scenarios. Let’s hope this is not the case.
The United States economy is looking much more attractive than the rest of the world with modest economic growth, stable employment and low inflation. This explains why institutional and large wealthy investors are moving capital from oversees into the U.S. markets driving up the US$, Stock Markets and Bond Markets. Take a look at Germany and Japan. Germany has a 10 YR Treasury Bond yielding (-) .21% and Japan, a 10YR Treasury Bond yielding (-) 0.114%. The U.S. 10YR Treasury Bond, by comparison, is a much higher 2.0%. Capital always flows to where it can get the highest returns for the lowest risk. Well then, if things are so rosy in the United States economy why is Federal Reserve Chairman Powell sending a signal that lower interest rates are coming? Does he see something that we do not? After all, when the economy is growing at a healthy pace and employment is the lowest it has been in 50 years along with low inflation, there is really no need to lower interest rates. So, there must be something else lurking under the muddy waters of the world economy. Answer: Deflating economies, Rising Debt, Currency Devaluation are wreaking havoc on the nations of the world and it will soon hit the shores of America.
There is a price to pay for excessive debt, excessive money printing and currency devaluation. We have seen this play out before with terrible results. It is a lesson not learned – the perfect storm of stupidity!
On Friday night of last week, a verdict was handed down to the family of Ruth Harrion of Jackson Mississippi in Hinds County Circuit Court. The trial started Monday of last week and the jury found that proper policy and procedures were not followed by both the 911 dispatch and the Police.
On July 15th, 2014, Ruth Harrion called 911 at approximately 2.25 am to complain of a prowler in her vicinity. The 911 tape was obtained by the Clarion Ledger, according to the article written up in USA today by Jimmie Gates this past weekend. The crux of the case starts at this point. The 911 Operator failed to keep Ms. Harrion on the line to obtain key information. As the Operator did not ask the location of the prowler nor did the operator ask if Ms. Harrion could see the prowler.
The Police arrived at Ms. Harrion’s home very quickly, around 8 minutes and knocked on the door but when no one answered, they apparently left without checking the parameter of the home. Eleven hours later the body of Ms. Harrion was discovered – beaten, strangled, neck broken and apparently signs of sexual assault, according to the article.
Alonzo Stewart, 33 was arrest and charged with Capital Murder. The article mentions Stewart confessed to the crime and that he was in Harrion’s home when the Officers came and left. His trial apparently is set for Dec 2nd of this year. Why so long? According to the article he suffered from mental issues.
Folks, I have a few issues with this case. No doubt the Police dropped the ball as did the 911 Dispatcher. I have a great deal of respect for the men and women of the Police force. They do a great job protecting society and deserve our respect but every once and a while a situation comes up that makes you shake your head. This is one of them.
The one million $ fine is too low in my mind given the nature of the case and the fact this murder could have been prevented.
Finally, let’s put the onus one the real criminal- Alonzo Stewart who deserves a Life sentence!
Fertility DR. Fathers 49 Children Without Consent!
A Dutch Fertility Doctor accused of using his own sperm to inseminate patients without their consent has been confirmed as the father of 49 children, according to a BBC news article.
DNA test revealed Jan Karbaat, who died two years ago, impregnated the mothers at his clinic in Bijorp near Rotterdam. The results were confirmed by a Judge on Friday April 12, 2019.
Mr. Karbaat was first taken to court in 2017 by a group of donor children and parents over suspicions they were related. Items were seized from his home after he died in 2017 at age 89.
Judges ruled DNA test results could be carried out but had to be sealed pending the outcome of pending court cases. In February of this year the DNA results were released.
Dr. Karbaat’s clinic was closed in 2009 amid allegations he falsified data, analyses, and donor descriptions and exceeded the permitted number of six children per donor.

individual has to walk away but finally if the final show she ends up giving a rose to the individual who apparently will be the love of her life and hopefully there will be a marriage proposal somewhere in there I don't know but that's the crux of the show it gets a lot of following many viewers followed this whole series called The Bachelorette but this particular episode the latest one took takes place in Latvia in Latvia Riga which is the one of the cities there beautiful spot by the way there are four guys I'm going to focus in on in this particular episode and they are Garrett Luke Peter and Jed now the episode picks up with Garrett who meets Hanna out in the middle of the Latvia wilderness where they partake in Latvian ritual naked bungee jumping you heard it right folks butt-ass naked bungee jumping Wow quite be quite the event I might add well so let's set up the scene so they climb up a cliff the crew who's doing the shooting in the episode straps them in tells them to strip down garrote holds on to Hanna she is nude as is he is hilarious and if you watch the show you can see them plunging and screaming all the way down of course the nudity is blacked out why do that well public television of course next enters Luke now when Hanna tells the other guys apparently they wrote to marketplace she was with with the other contestants or suitors and she was talking about the exuberance of her experience in nude bungee jumping and it was expressed
experience she ever ever was involved and she said so obviously she was quite excited about it and she couldn't wait to tell everyone about it but this gets back to Luke and of course Luke gets visibly upset obviously is a crush on her and he says well her body is her temple and to expose it to anyone who isn't her husband well that's a slap in the face they Luke hells bell look you better lead the show right now because you know if you're thinking that way you don't own her absolutely she's not your girlfriend she's not your fiancee she shouldn't how lives and your wife not yet and what were you thinking when you came on the show have you not watched the Bachelorette before did you not know that there's going to be probably lots of promiscuity that it is Bachelorette so it's one woman and
several guys are trying to woo her so you know you’re not the only one in the ball game Luke so but anyway that Luke goes on to say he has the nerve to say this he said he felt cheated on I’m just thinking about Garrett holding and naked that really pissed me off well to the Hannah’s credit she stayed calm she could have slapped him in the face you go through glass of water into space whatever what she was holding on to but she didn’t give him a piece of her mind she basically said it’s my body I will do with it what I want to do with it okay sure Hanna sharing your body with lots of men is a real virtue for marriage that’s that’s where I go run into this problems with this show you know they want to come across as being virtuous and yet there’s all kinds of promiscuity and things going on but that gets lots of views so anyway here next enters Peter and we see these two together Peter and Hannah in a lap in sauna actually went on a lap insan a date now this is where it gets
very steamy you know anybody’s been on sauna you know it’s hot in there but it certainly was hot and steamy whew these two you could see them going at it with each other holding each other necking with each other lathering each other they’re all over each other they’re getting sweaty they’re getting it hot a prom hot heavy Wow wondered the camel was on the whole while well probably some of the scenes were and some of them worked but anyway Hannah goes on after the episode and says Wow I loved it with saying it was so sexually driven our physical connection is 10 out of 10 whoop-de-doo finally after that suitor
the next stage is set for Jed now Jenn is a romantic type so and each of these suitors are trying to outdo the other so jet comes up with an idea okay I’m gonna sing her a lullaby or a romantic song so he gets out of guitar goes over to a hotel suite he’s outside she’s looking up out of the window just like Romeo and Juliet and Jeb begins to strum a song and the song is entitled I’ll be Mr. right for you oh how sweet how romantic obviously NFL for it so here we have four guys an idea okay I’m gonna sing her a lullaby or a romantic song so he gets out of guitar goes over to a hotel suite he’s outside she’s looking up out of the window just like Romeo and Juliet and Jeb begins to strum a song and the song is entitled I’ll be Mr. right for you oh how sweet how romantic obviously NFL for it so here we have four guys
that I was focusing on and pay particular attention to so I mean all these things that took place were just fascinating so but personally if they had to comment on this I would say Hannah she’d marry all four well you’re gonna say Paul what the hell have you got rocks in your head no I mean think of it folks she shouldn’t marry all four of them Garrett is the adventurer so he bring lots of adventure into the relationship Peter Peters a sexual one and would satisfy her sexual needs after all he says she says he’s a 10 out of 10 so why wouldn’t you Jed is a romantic
type you know he’s demin he would be somebody but bring your wine roses have a nice romantic dinner would be able to entertain her musically and really woo her so it would be a very romantic type of relationship and of course then there’s Luke now Luke in my mind is a sturdy one probably more conservative probably more traditional he’s a protector and in my mind he’d probably make a great family man you know however there is a saying you can’t have your cake and eat it too except on the Bachelorette those are my views I walked me yours you’re listening to online with Paul P wishing you all a great day
Kuwhi Leonard signing with the Los Angeles Clippers over the weekend sent shockwaves throughout the NBA, Sporting World and left Toronto Raptor fans stunned, disappointed, sad and lost for words. High hopes that he would stay with the Raptors were shattered as they were envisioning, that with Kuwhi on board, more championship titles would come their way. Now the Raptors are left empty handed with many questions facing the franchise.
As I wrote in an article last week, three teams were reportedly in contention for Leonard’s services- L.A. Lakers, L.A. Clippers and Toronto Raptors. The Lakers saw a chance to build a dynasty around Leonard, LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Clippers saw a chance to be very competitive and be a force in the NBA, not to mention a heated rivalry established with their cousins across town, the L.A. Lakers. The Raptors saw a King, one who would help secure another championship title.
Free Agency commenced on July 1st with Leonard not in a hurry to sign with anyone. Unlike Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors or Jimmy Butler of the Philadelphia 76’s, who jumped quickly to sign mega deals. Leonard opted to wait it out and be patient. He spent time travelling back and forth from L.A. to Toronto for talks with the L.A. teams and Raptors. It created quite a media frenzy throughout the sporting world, especially in Toronto.
Leonard is a cool dude and an equally shrewd negotiator. We learned from media reports that allegedly, he approached Paul George of Oklahoma City, to team up with him. According to media sources, Mr. George then went to team management and demanded to be traded. Oklahoma City complied, after all why keep a disgruntled player around. So, a mega deal was swung with the L.A. Clippers, sending George to L.A. for a bucket load of draft picks. Could it be that Leonard informed L.A. Clipper to go out and get George as a condition of his agreeing to sign with them? Perhaps. We do know, Kuwhi Leonard waited six days into free agency to before making his decision. Once it was announced, soon there after, the Paul George deal hit the news wire. Co-Incident? You tell me?
Kuwhi owes nothing to the Toronto Raptors, the city of Toronto or the country of Canada. He did what they brought him in to do, to win an NBA Championship. He brought tremendous interest in the game of basketball to a country that prides itself in hockey first. Canada embraced basketball and they loved every minute of the NBA playoffs. He will forever be remembered in Raptor history.
Yes, Toronto could have signed him for more money. He doesn’t need it nor was it a deciding factor. If it was, Toronto wins the prize.
Yes, Raptors with Kuwhi, improved their chances of repeating as NBA Champions.
Yes, had he signed, a statue of Kuwhi would be mounted outside the Raptors home court- Scotia Bank Place.
In the end, he just wanted to go home. You can’t blame him for that. Good for Kuwhi!
To Raptor fans, I feel for you, but it is time to get over it. Be glad you had your day in the Sun. Kuwhi has moved on and so should you!
Those are my views, I welcome Yours!
