A son of a sheriff’s deputy was arrested in connection with a string of devastating fires that burned down 3 historically black churches in the past two weeks in St. Mary’s Parish, Louisiana, according to a KATC Channel 3 TV an affiliate of ABC in La Fayette, Louisiana
Holden Matthew, 21 has been arrested in St.Landry Parish jail on suspicion of arson.
The first fire occurred on March 26 at St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Port Barre; The second occurred at Greater Union Baptist Church in Opelousas on April 2th and the third fire occurred on April 4th at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Opelousas.
According to KATC report, many of the worshipers that attend these churches were African Americans.
